Size: the main reason to choose one over the other

The Pro's interior fits 9 slices of bread, a 14 lb turkey, most 9x13-inch pans and a 12-cup muffin tray. It can genuinely replace your main oven for most weeknight cooking.

The BOV860 is about 2.5 inches narrower and 2 inches shorter on the outside, with an interior that fits 6 slices of bread, a 13-inch pizza or a roast chicken. It is a better fit for smaller kitchens and households.

Cooking functions

Both ovens toast, bake, roast, broil, air fry, reheat, keep warm, make pizza and cookies, and slow cook. The Pro adds Proof, for rising bread dough, and Dehydrate, for dried fruit and jerky, for 13 functions in total.

Same core technology

Both use Breville's Element iQ system, which steers power between five quartz elements, plus digital temperature control and super convection that Breville says cuts cooking time by up to 30%. Both draw 1800 W and come with a 2-year limited warranty, so you are not giving up quality by choosing the smaller one.

Price check

Prices on these two models change often, and the larger Pro is sometimes priced at or below the smaller BOV860. Check both before you buy: if the price gap is small or reversed, the Pro is the easy choice as long as it fits your counter.

Our verdict

Choose the Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro if you have the space: it does everything the smaller model does, adds proofing and dehydrating, and fits family-size meals. Choose the BOV860 if your counter is tight or you cook for one or two, since you get the same core technology in a smaller footprint.
